StormWater Challenge

The StormWater Challenge is a design and engineering activity that helps to understand the issues related to stormwater management in cities.

Participants build a miniature city from different materials, then test their design during simulated rainfall. They experiment with different solutions to provide water for fish, prevent flooding, and promote water infiltration into the soil.

Participants can then modify their city and test their choices again. A second test allows them to observe where pollution can accumulate in the city and to consider the circulation of rainwater and pollutants.
