The Planetary Boundary Fresco is a fun and participatory 3-hour workshop designed to discover the processes that compromise the habitability of our planet and to adopt a systemic vision of ecological issues.

Working in teams, participants use maps to understand the interactions between different planetary boundaries and unravel the links between the causes and consequences of their degradation. The workshop explores the nine terrestrial processes that contribute to Earth's habitability for humankind, including climate change, biosphere integrity, land-use change, ocean acidification, and the freshwater cycle.

By connecting the different cards, participants create their own mural, then take the time to personalize it and express their feelings about the challenges of the ecological crisis. Each team then presents its mural and its key messages.

Finally, a systems exercise allows each participant to choose a boundary that is important to them and an action that benefits that boundary, then to think about its possible co-benefits or adverse effects on other boundaries.
